Creative Card Layouts by Craftaholics
Hi Fellows!
Many of you may already know that Craftaholics launched 12 x 12 inches designer papers a while back and have all the happy and excited customers who absolutely loved the quality.
Happy and excited feed backs of customers, urged me to work with my own sheets to see what I can make with these. So I gave a challenge to myself 2 cards a day and all having different layouts , look and feel. Guess what? I enjoyed this creativity boost a lot even some days I ended up making 3 or 4 cards..
So I made a total of 15 cards. Sharing 5 of them with you for a creativity inspiration..
This one is the most favourite of mine that I kept on photographing it for so long , updated my DP on Facebook, Instagram , Personal Facebook profile, WhatsApp and where not.
The black dust glittered butterfly on the top of scallop and circle is my new favourite way of embellishing the cards.
Below are the two sheets I used in it's making and the combination of these two, along with black dust glittered butterfly turned out so decent yet eye catching.
Next card is for Dearest Friend, I always found it difficult to make Friendship themed projects. This was loved due to the cool heart window and light and dark contrast it has. Look at how cool the diamond patterned paper and pearls are looking. I got this window metal die a while back and it didn't turn out as I expected it to be so it resided in my trash, restricting myself to not use my typical handmade paper flowers, was really a tough task me but my crafty stuff will definitely be so happy as the restriction gave many of them, a chance to appear and loved.
Birthday theme is my favourite and I never forget to make a birthday card for my closed ones so next card is about birthday. I love to work with water colour effects and baby themed light colours. This stacked gift boxes metal die came as a gift and this too, was residing in my trash list until this challenge. Loved the neatness , fine cuts and awesomeness of this die.
The challenge also helped me to learn working with the ribbons which I always wanted to do but found tough.
Background paper of this card can be used in various themes like baby boy related projects, gift wrapping, friendship and many other themes
Again a sheet with water colour effects. Loved the soft colours and combination of ribbons and pearls plus the stylish font of you are my sunshine metal die. That golden metal butterfly always helped me in achieving professional touch in my makes and is loved by me and all my fellow crafters. The sheet I used in making of the card is below
Here are the sheets used for above three cards. The diamond pattern in the mid is the most selling design from our new collection.
Next card was last of this challenge and my brain gave up for unique layouts , still I managed to make one in cool colours and once again, I choosed water colour florals patterned sheet. I simply used my favourite border metal die and a card from Craftaholics 12 x 12 inches love themed element card sheet and ofcourse the pearls and lace is must.
The two sheets I used are here. I'm so in love with this floral sheet that I used it for gift wrapping too and it turned out to be so lovely and cute.
Here are some bonus tips I learned from this challenge.
- Dust glittered butterfly: Use thin double tape to cover the front of paper. Pass the covered paper through your die cutting machine. Take of the tape and dip the cutout in glitter. Rub it lightly to spread the glitter evenly. Dust away excess glitter and TADDAAAA....!!!!
- Whenever you think about making layered embellishments, don't go for the plain ones, adding some dimensional look by using double tape will add a lot of professional look to them.
- When using ribbons, create a mix and match of different colours. Don't go for just a single ribbon alone. I tried and it gave a really bad look.
And the best tip / advice is, give yourself little challenges, take out time from your daily routine or atleast at the end of day, play with colours, create lovely pieces. Be it paper crafts, painting, sewing whatever you like but trust me playing in colours will reduce 50% of your stress and will give you a boost for next day and this is what I do with my 9-6 office routine to keep me going.
Share your makes via email to get them featured on our page (papercreations2018@gmail.com)
Happy Crafting! :)
